Dilemmas for the Day.

Today at lunch I was sitting with a group of acquaintances. I arrived late to the conversation but they were talking about books. One of the people is an English major. Things I heard from this person are as follows:

  • I really don't read any books anymore.
  • The only thing I have really read in a long time was the Harry Potter books.
  • Why doesn't J.K Rowling just write Harry Potter books.
  • I heard her new book wasn't good. Why would she wanna write anything other than Harry Potter?
  • Shakespeare is boring to me all the thous and thees.
  • I just think Shakespeare is dated
  • (When I mentioned that they are actually really interesting you just have to understand the language) the person looked at me and said, "I know!! I'm not ignorant"...
Dilemma Number 1: Hold your tongue Jon!!
Don't worry! I did, as hard as it was to do so.

So I get done with class and come back to my room. Turn on the T.V and the Manchester Darby is on. For those who don't know Manchester City vs. Manchester United in football (soccer in the U.S). Either way it is a big deal. So I check ESPN and the KC Royals play at 3:10 today and that means I will have to choose between watching the second half of the Darby or the home opener for the Royals! You would think I would have to make harder choices during class...nope.

Dilemma Number 2: Baseball or Soccer??
Baseball and Soccer on the breaks! Gotta love compromise!

Also I need a behavior to change for a class assignment...what shall I choose?
And remember Kids... Carpe YOLO

  1. This is a good example of a college student that is wasting their money. You do not go to college for the degree (in my opinion), you go to college because you enjoy engaging in intellection. Obviously, this student does not.
